The Hope and Healing Gallery exists to shine a light on local art and the importance of supporting survivors of sexual violence. Artists participating in the Hope and Healing Gallery will have a space and 6x5 foot pallet display wall (with lighting) provided to them to hang their work. We welcome all mediums, so if they don't want the pallet display and instead would require a table or some other form of display they can let me know or bring their own display system.
The Hope and Healing art Gallery is an Art Sale, so artists are not required to donate any of their sales to Riverview Center, however many artists have expressed interest in doing so. We ask all of our artists to provide us with a full list of all the pieces they plan on selling, the name of the piece, and how much they intend to sell it for. We do this because we found last year that the easiest way for us as a non-profit organization to facilitate this type of event, is to collect payment for all art sold, and then send all artists their sales via check within 30 days of the gallery ending.
Any and all artists intrested in selling their work at the Hope and Healing Gallery can reach out to me at jedd.spidell@riverviewcenter.org and I'd love to share more about our work and the gallery itself. Please check out our website to learn more about what we do. www.riverviewcenter.org. If you have any questions please let me know. We try and be as flexible as possible!

Des Moines Art Center Free Little Art Gallery
The Des Moines Art Center has unveiled the city’s first Free Little Art Gallery, a miniature outdoor gallery where local artists can share small works of art with the community.
The Free Little Art Gallery is located on the east side of the Des Moines Art Center near the pathway leading to Greenwood Park. Artists of all abilities are encouraged to contribute to the Free Little Art Gallery. The only requirement is that each piece of art be no more than 5 inches tall to fit in the gallery space. People can leave something, take something, or both, as often as they wish.
The Free Little Art Gallery is similar to the neighborhood library “take a book, return a book” concept. Miniature outdoor art galleries have been popping up throughout the United States. Mia Buch, museum educator at the Des Moines Art Center, was instrumental in bringing the Free Little Art Gallery concept to Des Moines.
“Art is for everyone. That’s a big reason why I work at the Des Moines Art Center, because along with free admission, the Art Center works every day to make art as accessible as possible,” Buch said. “This [Free Little Art Gallery] is a playful extension of that mission and I hope it inspires members of our community to create, view, and value artwork in new ways, and more often.”
